Terms of Use
1. Acceptance
By installing or using UAIE for Microsoft Word (UAIE or the Add-in), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not install or use the Add-in.
2. Licence
Fiza Pathan grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use UAIE for Microsoft Word on devices licensed to you or your institution, for accessibility, teaching, learning, and lawful document preparation. Schools, colleges, and other institutions may deploy the Add-in to their users on the same terms. For any other permission, please write to fizapathan@fizapathanpublishing.com.
3. Price
UAIE for Microsoft Word is free of charge. There is no purchase, subscription, licence fee, or in-app payment, and no feature of the Add-in is locked behind a payment. The only cost you may incur is described in Section 8: if you choose to use the optional AI features, Anthropic charges you directly for that usage under your own Anthropic account. Neither Fiza Pathan nor Fiza Pathan Publishing (OPC) Private Limited receives any part of that charge.
If this ever changes, the change will be announced on this page before it takes effect, and no charge will be made to you without your express agreement.
4. Intellectual property
UAIE™, including the Universal Adaptive Interface Engine name, the fourteen-feature design, the UAIE Sign™ 72-gesture educational sign vocabulary, the six-level Plain Language schema, the Accessibility Audit rules, and all source code, is the intellectual property of Fiza Pathan. Indian Patent Application No. 202621054517. Trademark applications pending. You may not copy, modify, distribute, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works without written permission. That the Add-in is free does not transfer or waive any of these rights.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to use UAIE in any way that is unlawful, infringes the rights of others, or attempts to circumvent accessibility safeguards in order to deny accessibility to any person.
6. No warranty
UAIE is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. Plain Language, Multiple Intelligences, Translate, and Braille outputs are produced automatically and should be reviewed by a qualified educator or transcriber before publication. The Accessibility Audit is a guide and is not a legal accessibility certification. Focus Sounds are background audio, not a medical treatment. The publisher may update, change, or discontinue the Add-in at any time.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, neither Fiza Pathan (as publisher) nor Fiza Pathan Publishing (OPC) Private Limited (which markets UAIE) shall be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising out of or in connection with the use of, or inability to use, UAIE. Your sole remedy is to stop using the Add-in.
8. Third parties
UAIE runs inside Microsoft’s Office Add-in framework, and Microsoft’s terms apply to Office (including the office.js library downloaded from Microsoft). If you obtained UAIE through Microsoft Marketplace, Microsoft’s marketplace terms also apply to that listing; these Terms govern your use of the Add-in itself.
Translate, Plain Language L3 to L6, and Multiple Intelligences L3 to L6 are optional. They send text directly from your browser to Anthropic’s API using your own API key. Anthropic’s terms apply to that traffic, and Anthropic bills you directly for any usage under your own account. UAIE does not intermediate these requests, does not see or store your key on any server, and receives no payment from them. All other features work without an API key.
Online read-aloud voices supplied by your browser or operating system (for example from Microsoft or Google) are governed by those companies’ terms. See the Privacy Policy for details.
9. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Mumbai, India. Users outside India are welcome to use UAIE under these Terms as written.
10. Changes
These Terms may be updated from time to time. Material changes will be dated at the top of this page.
